Designing/Creating Fonts Tools

I just love your face… typeface that is…

So.. yeah I like typefaces. Some people are just great at creating fantastic looking fonts and the right font can do wonders for any visual. If you’ve ever hungered for your own personalised fonts you always have a few options – but most have been costly options.

Well I’ve just stumbled across an awesome website that allows you to create your own font using a really flexible pixel grid system – and it is based in Flash so no downloading for you sonny jim (except in truetype of course…).

fontstruct

It’s pretty simple – you create the image by filling in pixel squares and can vary the shape of the shape to suit your requirements, e.g. for curvers, edges etc.

You have to register before you can use the site, however its a real easy way of creating your own fonts and being exposed to other font designers who like to share their art. Go social media!

Check ‘em out at http://fontstruct.fontshop.com/ and you know… share the love.

When I have some time I’ll create my version of the goforthinkdot font and post it on there… so watch this space!

[Edit] And once you’re done, head over to Vectortuts to learn how to make your fonts nice and 3D like in illustrator using the 3D extrude tool. It’s fab.
